About

This is an independent record of FC Bayern's first team, kept by one supporter. It exists because the two things it does are hard to find anywhere else: an honest account of how much each player actually plays, and a written trail behind every transfer story.

How the minutes work

Every competitive match is logged by competition. The percentage on each player page is his share of the minutes the team had available, calculated as matches played multiplied by 90, plus 30 for every match that went to extra time. Penalty shoot-outs are not playing time and are not counted.

It is a blunt measure and that is the point. Appearances flatter substitutes and starts flatter players who come off early. Share of available minutes answers a simpler question: of all the football that was played, how much of it did he play?

Minutes at other clubs, whether before joining or while out on loan, are listed separately and never counted towards that share. Comparing a season in the Eredivisie with a season here would not mean anything.

How the ledger works

Every transfer claim about Bayern gets a line: what was claimed, who claimed it first, and every reported development after that, each with its date. The label describes how much weight the claim carries, not whether we like it.

Claims stay on the record after they are settled, including the ones that went nowhere. That is the part most sites cannot do, because a story that never happened is worth nothing to them once the traffic has gone. Here it is worth something: it is how you can tell whether a source is usually right.

A denial does not close a claim. Clubs deny things that later happen, so a denial is logged as another dated entry and the claim stays open until the window closes or the move is completed.

What is opinion and what is not

Numbers, contracts, dates and quotes are facts and are sourced. The section headed Our read on each player page is judgement, and it is written by a person who watches the games. The two are kept visibly apart on purpose.

Sources

Transfer fees are taken from Transfermarkt throughout, so that one convention applies everywhere rather than a mix. Their figures are sometimes estimates. Minutes and appearances are compiled by hand from match reports. Club announcements come from fcbayern.com.

Mistakes will happen. If you find one, say so and it gets corrected with the correction noted.
